Dear Tampa Catholic Parents and Students,

We are excited to welcome you back for the 2022-23 school year. To our incoming freshmen class and to our transfer students, welcome to Tampa Catholic! We are blessed with an amazing group of students and families and we look forward to your contributions to our community. Our staff has worked tirelessly this summer to ensure that we have a smooth start to the school year. We look forward to seeing our students on Monday, August 8 for the first day of school.

On September 5, 1962, Tampa Catholic welcomed her first students. This year marks our 60th anniversary of serving the Tampa Bay area through a Christ centered, Catholic education. We proudly carry forth on this rich tradition and we look forward to commemorating our legacy throughout this year. We hope you will be able to join in celebrating our rich history. We will unveil more details in the coming weeks.

Every year brings new students, new staff members and new initiatives. Below are some initial highlights of changes or additions for the coming year:

Campus Ministry – We are pleased to welcome Ryan Mulligan as our full-time Campus Minister. Ryan will be working with Fr. Xavy (Chaplain), Br. Chris Burns and our Theology teachers to provide additional faith development opportunities for our students. We look forward to enhancing our already strong ministry program.
Partnership with Trademark Security Services – school security is always at the forefront of our thoughts. The safety and security of our students is our number one priority. Last year we increased our mental health outreach and had community patrols through 6:00 PM. We have decided to contract with Trademark for an armed security officer during our school day. This decision is being made with a certain degree of sadness but, in light of the current state of affairs, we feel it is prudent. Trademark has been providing security at TC for our evening events and they will be our liaison to the Tampa Police Department and Hillsborough Sheriff’s Office. They will work directly with our Dean’s Office.
Capital Imporvements:

The Kevin Knox II Fieldhouse is fully operational but there are still additional improvements that will be added in the coming months (trophies, Hall of Fame, lobby furniture, more graphics). In addition, our parking lot with enhanced lighting (to be added) has been reconstructed, and a new vinyl fence on the south border has been added.
Crusader Stadium has a new scoreboard and a new sound system will be added later this year.
We have completely renovated our Z Space Science STEM Lab.
New landscaping and cleaning contractors have been added to our maintenance team.
The final construction documents are nearing completion for the Bellini Center for the Arts and we anticipate construction after completing the permitting process.

Tampa Catholic continues to be blessed with strong enrollment and interest in our school. We expect to open the school year with approximately 725 students and all classes are at or near capacity. We are pleased to welcome 190 freshmen to Tampa Catholic.

Important: Please be sure you are receiving weekly updates through our electronic newsletter, the e-TC. This is an invaluable tool to keep you up to date on all school news, events and happenings at Tampa Catholic. The e-TC is emailed every Friday afternoon. All enrolled families should be receiving the e-TC. If you have not received them to date, please be sure to check your spam folder. Tracking Crusader Parent Involvement Hours

Crusader Parent Involvement hours are tracked in X2VOL. Your parent accounts were established over the summer and an email was sent to you with your personalized account registration instructions. X2VOL gives you the opportunity to join a pre-defined opportunity or to add a personal project, to upload your receipts and to keep track of your parent hours.

Each family will have one account for tracking parent service hours. All hours performed on behalf of Crusader Parent Involvement hours should be tracked in that parent account. The parent account and opportunities are separate from the student accounts and opportunities.

Crusader Parent Involvement hours must be performed to directly benefit Tampa Catholic High School. For example, working for three hours at a non-profit organization will not earn parent service hour credit, but acting as a chaperone to TC students working at a non-profit as requested by a TC faculty or staff member will earn parent service hours. Writing a check to a specific team or TC organization will not earn parent service hours, but providing a meal to a specific TC team or organization will earn parent service hours once the X2VOL entry is completed with a receipt attached.

Donations of items will be credited at a rate of one hour per $20 spent on donations. A receipt must be attached to X2VOL in order to be credited for a donation.

Kevin Knox II '17 Makes a Transformative $2,000,000 Gift to Tampa Catholic

Kevin Knox II '17, a professional basketball player, is donating $2,000,000 to name the Kevin Knox II Fieldhouse at Tampa Catholic High School - a newly designed and expanded facility now under construction that will house a state-of-the-art Fitness Center, Hall of Fame Pavilion, Champions Hall, Men’s and Women’s Locker Rooms, Coaching Suites, Video Scoreboard, Bleachers and Concessions.

"This gift will not only transform our school gymnasium; most meaningfully, it will affirm the values of Kevin’s life and the lessons those values hold for our students today.", said principal of Tampa Catholic High School, Robert Lees. "We are humbled by, grateful for, and very proud to call this “champion on and off the court”, Kevin Knox II, a TC Crusader!"
