Library

Students in grades K-8 visit the library weekly.


The objective in Library class is to instill an appreciation and love of reading for enjoyment.  A book is read aloud to each class in grades K-5, which increases student reading fluency and through discussions helps develop critical thinking skills and building vocabulary.

Media

Beginning in 6th grade, our students attend Media class. The focus is on beneficial study skills and safe internet use and student skills. Students learn the importance of time management, good study habits/note taking, how to use a dictionary/thesaurus, how to quote sources and create a bibliography, and plagiarism.


They also cover some of the following topics:

  • Finding digital balance
  • Phishing
  • Chatting safely online
  • Digital drama unplugged
  • Finding credible news
  • Media use
  • How social media impacts our lives
  • Cyberbullying
  • Four factors of fair use
  • Digital media and your brain
  • Awareness of sharing information online
  • Social media and digital footprints
